    Xiamen ports' throughput to reach 200 million tonnes by 2015

    SOUTHEAST China's Xiamen port will accelerate the relocation and reconstruction of the port area to increase throughput to 200 million tonnes by 2015 according to the next National 12th Five-Year Plan, reports Xinhua.


    The port will place emphasis on the construction of the two major deep-water port areas at Xiang'an in the north and Gulei in the south. The port's shoreline will be increased to 84.5 kilometres while the terminal site will cover 75.65 square metres.


    Xiamen will have 337 berths operated in 2015, including 248 deep water berths with a capacity of 600 million tonnes. Upon completion, the overall cargo throughput at Xiamen's ports will reach a combined 200 million tonnes, with foreign trade throughput amounting to 100 million tonnes.
