MOL boosts intra-Asia network with new Shekou call, feeder service
MOL has revised the port rotation of its Japan-Strait 'HS3' service to add a northbound call at Shekou, China, and is launching a new Singapore-Jakarta feeder service (AJS) as well as taking slots on an OOCL service to enhance its intra-Asia network. The Japanese transportation company said the new service offerings are 'competitive' despite the potential for schedule disruption as a result of recent port congestion in the region. The company said it is introducing the new Singapore-Jakarta shuttle service (AJS) to stabilise the service schedule of the HS3 service. "This will help maintain competitive transit times from Japan to Jakarta by transhipment to this dedicated feeder service and reduce the risk of accumulated delays at port(s)," a company statement said. The port rotation for the AJS is: Singapore (Sat/Sun), Jakarta (Tue/Wed), Singapore. The feeder is due to commence from Singapore on March 1 (ETA). It is offering the new Japan-Taiwan-South China-Jakarta (HS4) service by taking slots on the 'KTX3' service operated by Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL). The port rotation for the HS4 is: Tokyo (Mon/Tue), Nagoya (Tue/Wed), Yokkaichi (Wed/Wed), Kobe (Thu/Thu), Keelung (Sat/Sun), Hong Kong (Mon/Tue), Shekou (Tue/Wed), Singapore (Sat/Sun), Jakarta (Mon/Wed), Shekou (Wed/Wed), Hong Kong (Wed/Thu), Tokyo. The service uses four ships operated by OOCL, with a round trip taking 28 days. MOL will join the service on February 10 in Tokyo. The revised HS3 service rotation to include the Shekou call is: Osaka (Mon/Tue), Yokkaichi (Tue/Wed), Yokohama (Wed/Thu), Tokyo (Thu-Fri), Hong Kong (Mon/Tue), Singapore (Fri/Sat), 1st Port Kelang (Sat/Sun), 2nd Port Kelang (Tue/Tue), Singapore (Wed/Thu), Caimep (Sat/Sun), Shekou (Tue/Wed), Hong Kong (Thu/Fri), Osaka (Mon/Tue). The transit time is 28 days and the service is operated by four ships provided by MOL. The new rotation takes effect on February 10.
