Mumbai International Airport opens India's first cargo web portal site
MUMBAI International Airport Private Limited (MIAL) in partnership with IT provider Kale Logistics has launched India's first air cargo community portal GMAX-GVK MIAL Air Exchange at the recent 40th ACAAI Convention held in Jaipur. The project, which began at the start of 2013, offers an integrated electronic communication platform and a central base for data sharing with MIAL's trade partners. It offers a kind of air cargo community portal with a comprehensive EDI service platform connecting all air cargo stakeholders at Mumbai. The Thane, a Mumbai-based IT provider, will install its e-freight GALAXY system at all of its customers airports. MIAL vice president Manoj Singh said the GMAX is a multi-modal unified electronic platform which creates a digital interface for a range of air cargo stakeholders such as customs, customs brokers, airlines, forwarders and shippers. "GMAX will bring all the participants in the air cargo supply chain under one roof enabling them exchange information and documents electronically," said Mr Singh. "The new platform will put an end to the current manual processes and multiple data entries. It improves transparency in the supply chain," he said, reported the Yorkshire-based Materials Handling World magazine.
