CHINA has completed the seven-kilometre Chong-qi Bridge across the Yangtze linking Chongming Island in Shanghai and Qidong city across the river in Jiangsu province, reports Xinhua.
The CNY3 billion (US$465 million) bridge has six lanes with, and was designed to shorten the current 52 kilometres long route from Shanghai to Qidong.
Chong-qi Bridge is part of expressway from Shanghai to China's mid-western city of Xian. The project will promote the relationship between the eastern and western regions, and the development of Yangtze River Delta economic integration.
The length of the Shanghai-Qidong expressway is 51.76 kilometres, including the Chong-qi Bridge's seven kilometres.
